Relationship: Relationship: Congratulations to your great homepage and the research done. I wonder if I have any relation to your family, nevertheless it is interesting to see that so many people share this family name. My grandfather Karoly (Charles) Lederer was born in Prague (or Brno) at the turn of the century, my father Sandor (Alexander) Lederer in Budapest, Hungary in 1910. A branch of Karoly,s family lived in Czechoslovakia. Rudolf Lederer was the last one my grandfather had contact with, his letter from a small town, Vodnany, where he owned a small textile factory, the Rulco, dated 1939 was the last piece of information from them. Its very likely that they were killed by the nazis. Rudolf had two or three children aged between 3 and 10 at the begining of the war. I have tried to find out more about them, but with not much success. I would very much appreciate if someone could help me get further in my "research".

John had 5 brothers and 3 sisters: Harry, Harvey, Frederick (Fritz), Arthur, Ester, Norma, and Eleanor. Their parents were John and Anne Lederer. If anyone has any information that would help me please get in touch with me. Thank-you. By the way great website.

Relationship: I don't know of any connection to the Charles Gottlieb Lederer clan, but my grandfather, Alois Charles Lederer, was born in Baden-Baden and was a lithographer. From his lineage, there are many Lederers that originated in Texas, mostly residing in Houston now. John Leslie Lederer, M.D. now lives in Honolulu, HI and Paul Richard Lederer lives in Louisville, KY. Two others include George William Lederer, Jr. living in The Woodlands, Texas and James Conrad Lederer living in Austin, Texas. Brad Lederer is my second cousin.

Interests: My passion is the creation of custom stained glass panels. My profession has been in the engineering realm and currently means utilizing graphic three dimensional software to design aspects of instrumentation and electrical elements of co-generation plants. My current immediate family includes 2 miniature dachshunds, Roxanne and Maximillian.

I studied the Lederer sites carefully and I was much surprised about the large number of Lederer families in the U.S.The origin of the name Lederer must have been indeed a man producing/handling/treating or dealing with leather items, however the origin goes back more than about 1500 years. It is a widely spread family name in Switzerland and the soutern part of Germany, and there are many hundreds of Lederer families living in this part of Europe today. Would be really interesting to find out the interdependences between the U.S. group and the European group. The www. in our time should make it much easier to do so.

Interests: Two brothers of my great grandfather Joseph Lederer (sorry, I don't know their first names) emigrated to the U.S. in about 1850 somewhere to the Mid West, probably to Minnesota. Their family lived in a little town in the southern part of the Black Forest called "ZELL" (situated in the valley of the "Wiese", a little river having its source on the "Feldberg", the highest top of the Black Forest. Is there anybody who can help me to trace their descendants?? Of course there is only a little hope on my part, but nobody knows, there are coincidences everywhere...

Relationship: My family is from Bohemia, likely related to the other Jewish Lederers listed below. My grandfather Julius was born in Budweis (Ceske budejovice) in 1890, and emigrated to Vienna around the turn of the century. His brothers were Otto (d 1967), Siegfried (1937?), and Caroline Berger (Ida) (1960) . The earliest family recollection is of a Phillip Lederer in a family bible born about 1805. My father, Paul, born Vienna 1921 is alive and well.

Interests: I am related by marriage to Arnost (aka Ernest) and Marketa (aka Margaret) Lederer who came to England in 1939. They lived in Teplice-Sanov, Czechoslovakia where Arnost had a factory making leathercloth products and also in Prague. Parents of Arnost ( born 3 Sept 1892 in Kasejovice) were Jakub and Karolina and the maiden name of Marketa was Jonas. Their children were Peter and Brigita. Sadly, all this family are now deceased and I know of no living relatives in the Czech Republic although I think some relatives did go to USA. I would welcome any information about my family.
